The team and I were tasked with helping frontline managers stay on top of their tasks by improving how they manage and track work within Rever. Our goal was to minimize app-switching, make key updates easier to find, and create a simple, user-friendly experience that keeps managers focused and engaged within Rever.

So, managers were stuck manually recreating tickets from Rever into Microsoft Planner just to track progress, adding extra steps that slowed them down instead of streamlining their work.

One client shared,

"We spent more time organizing tasks than

actually completing them. There was no easy

way to track what was done and what

needed attention."

Understanding User Needs

Understanding User Needs

Since this was a 0 to 1 product, we didn’t have an existing system to analyze. Instead, we took a deep dive into how teams were currently managing tasks and what pain points they faced.

Our research process included:

🔹 User Interviews – We spoke with manufacturing teams to understand their workflows, frustrations, and needs.
🔹 Competitive Analysis – We reviewed other task management tools to identify best practices and gaps.

Since this was a 0 to 1 product, we worked in fast, iterative cycles, testing and refining as we went. Here’s how we tackled the biggest design challenges:

1️⃣ Designing Task Cards for Clarity

🛠 Challenge: How do we fit enough information into a small space without overwhelming users?

Solution: We tested multiple layouts, prioritizing the most important details while keeping designs clean and scannable.

2️⃣ Balancing Flexibility & Simplicity

🛠 Challenge: Offering customization options without overwhelming users.

✅ Solution: We made it easier for users to customize their columns by providing a variety of filter options they can select from, allowing them to tailor workflows to their needs without overcomplicating the process.

Collaboration & Scalability

Collaboration & Scalability

Designing from 0 to 1 comes with unique challenges. Here’s what we learned:

🤝 Cross-Team Collaboration Matters – Working closely with developers helped us find technically feasible solutions while maintaining great UX.
🔄 Usability Testing is Key – Early testing helped us refine features before launch, reducing friction for users.
📈 Scalability is Always a Factor – We designed Boards to evolve, ensuring future adaptability and integrations.

A Real Fix for a Real Problem

A Real Fix for a Real Problem

At its core, this project was about making task management easier, not harder. By replacing an inflexible system with a customizable, intuitive tool, we gave manufacturing teams exactly what they needed to stay organized and focused.

And as the lead designer, seeing these improvements in action was incredibly rewarding. It’s another reminder that great UX isn’t about flashy features—it’s about solving real problems in the simplest way possible.
